Teen Sidekick Application
Thank you for your interest in the Sidekicks program at the City of Piedmont Recreation Department. We would like to learn a little about you, your interests and availability for Summer 2024. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact sidekicks@piedmont.ca.gov.

While no experience is necessary, we ask that only serious students apply. As a Teen Sidekick in our summer program, you must agree to attend at least one (1) entire camp session. A camp session is one week, typically Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). This is a voluntary position and community service hours are available upon request.

By submitting an application, you confirm that you are at least 14 years of age (by June 5, 2024). Applications are due by March 24th, 2023. In-person interviews will be rolling, beginning in February. If the applicant passes the interview, Sidekicks must attend orientation/training on May 1st at 6pm. 

PRD offers TWO TYPES of Sidekicks programs during the summer - 

SUMMER SIDEKICKS - 1-ON-1 MATCHING PROGRAM (weeks 3, 4 & 6): Teen Sidekicks will be paired with an individual camper and together, they will attend a PRD camp together for the week.

ADAPTIVE CAMPS (weeks 2, 5, 7-10): Teen Sidekicks help facilitate the instructor at one of our adaptive camps. Each adaptive camp has at least five Teen Sidekicks. This is a great option to volunteer with a friend.

After completing a summer Sidekicks program, we welcome you to sign up for school year opportunities without any additional onboarding necessary.
