Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Initial Training Registration
Who is invited?
Educators and building staff who work with volatile students…particularly those who work with students who may require physical intervention to help them be available for learning.

Why is it two days instead of one?
The Crisis Prevention Institute constantly looks for ways to improve the content to make it applicable to a variety of environments and legal mandates. This newest version of CPI has gone through a major revision in terminology and techniques. Thus, new trainings now require two days.

What if I have already been trained?
Those folks previously trained and certified should attend an initial training due to the content update. Refresher trainings will resume in the 2020-21 school year for those trained on the new content.

What will you learn?
During this certification program you will learn ways to deescalate aggressive interactions through understanding the stages of a crisis. You will also be certified in a non-violent safe physical intervention technique. Certification for educators is required in Illinois if you are to participate in physical restraints.

You must be currently employed by a member district of BASSC to attend this training. This is the initial training.
