Hub of Detroit Mechanic Application 2016
This application is for people interested in working at The Hub of the Detroit either on a part-time, seasonal basis or full-time, year round basis as mechanics. Mechanic's at the Hub fill a variety of roles and are expected to gain skill and competency in all positions listed here: Same day repairs (flat fixes, adjustments, recabling, accessory installations); Refurbishing/building used bikes for sale (ability to completely overhaul a bicycle, knowledge of parts compatibility, aesthetics, make/model of bikes up to 20 years old is a plus); Docket Repairs (this is long term work, including tune-ups, overhauls, conversions, multiple parts replacement etc.); and Customer Service duties (this includes sales and requires knowledge of bike brands and quality, parts brands & quality, and the ability to diagnose mechanical issues, write service tickets, and quote costs based on part & labor charge estimations). Diagnosis also requires the ability to understand and respond to mechanical issues as described by customers with little to no familiarity with tool, part, or mechanical vocabulary.
