OPEN POSITIONS

**Full-Time Writers:

Are you looking for a creative output for all those witty jokes you make under your breath? Do you want to have a meaningful, positive impact on the busy lives of your fellow classmates? Then you should apply to be a Daybreak full-time writer. In this position, you will own one day of the week completely – sharing standard Daybreak fare like the news and weather, but also highlighting events, issues, and people you believe are important to our readers.

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week (min.)

**Feature Writers:

If you love to write, but are looking for a slightly lower time commitment, we would love to have you join as a feature writer! This job will allow the writer to find passion projects, exciting on-campus events, and interesting topics to deep-dive and create new content in our issues. Your work will act as a supplement to the daily writer’s content and will allow you to spend more time on editorial features.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

What will you get out of it?
Our writers (both full-time and feature) get to shape a new issue every week and own content fully. Content marketing is a hot topic among brands and you will have a head start with this role. Become a digital media maven or maverick as you learn which pieces of content resonate with readers and shift focus accordingly. This role will give you a portfolio of work to showcase ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and in a way that is consistent with a brand’s identity – much stronger evidence than a byline on your resume.

**Copy Editor:

Do you have a keen eye for detail? Do feel like you understand the Daybreak ‘voice’? If so, we need you to be our copy editor and quality assurance manager. Every day we need to turn around a totally new issue of Daybreak. To do that we need your help to make sure every link goes where it’s supposed to, every club has its event showcased properly, and that the Daybreak voice remains consistent from day to day: trusted, friendly, and funny.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week (will require commitment Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings)

What will you get out of it?
This role is perfect for someone interested in consulting as this keen eye for detail will you serve you well when presenting to important clients. If you are interested in brand management, affinity, and communications you will be an integral part to keeping the newsletter consistent across the weeks, month, and year.

**Digital Marketing & Audience Engagement Lead(s):

Daybreak wants to enrich the lives of Kellogg students. We need you to help! The community manager(s) will work to manage our social media accounts, website design and communication, ideate/plan/execute events IRL, and brainstorm additional Daybreak engagement activities. This position needs a self-starter with a passion for engagement. If that sounds like you, let’s get to work!

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week

What will you get out of it?
With this position, you will be able to showcase your ability to manage multiple social media accounts, a website, and event planning. This job will be attractive to you marketing lovers as you can measure success in followers, engagement, and our annual customer insights survey.

**Growth & Monetization Lead:

Do you have a knack for making deals? A natural way with people? If this sounds like you, Daybreak needs your help in expanding our advertising and partnership business. Your role will be to pitch the unique value proposition of Daybreak (engaged readership, affluent audience, etc.) to potential advertising partners. This role will have a lot of autonomy and allow the Strategist to create new relationships with local businesses and national corporations.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

What will you get out of it?
Every job, for better or worse, is tied to sales. This will give you firsthand experience at pitching a value proposition and getting buy-in from advertisers. You will be able to showcase your success in clear monetary value to future employers and provide a story of Daybreak’s growth on your resume.
