The David E. Drum Award for the School Bus Mechanic of the year is given in memory of David E. Drum, a school bus mechanic and twenty-eight year employee of Teays Valley Schools, to the School Bus Mechanic of the Year as judged by the OAPT Officers. It is the intent of this award to recognize mechanics who exhibit outstanding cost-saving measures, cooperation and working relationships with school bus drivers and fellow employees, sets high shop standards, and has implemented a preventative maintenance program. The award also recognizes mechanics who have contributed to the advancement of pupil transportation as a profession.
Criteria - To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:* Nominee must be employed as a school bus mechanic three (3) years preceding the date of the application * Nominee must have an outstanding record of attendance for a period of three (3) years preceding the date of the application* Nominee must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of equipment, safety laws, and local policy.* Nominee must show participation in continuing education through professional development opportunities.* Nominee's involvement in Regional Road-E-O is preferred.* Nominee's involvement in the Ohio Association for School Bus Mechanics is preferred.* Nominee's involvement in Community or Civic activities for organization is preferred.

Letters of recommendation are not needed from everyone listed above, but will be accepted. A complete resume and background for the nominee is required. File submission is at the bottom of this nomination form.
