Every year, Historic Rock Hill recognizes significant historic preservation projects within the boundaries of the Rock Hill, SC. The award is open to all properties (residential, commercial, institutional, religious, parks and so on) that fall within the boundaries of the Rock Hill School District. These projects may include but are not limited to:
• Extensive and appropriate restoration on an existing structure• Adaptive reuse that maintains the architectural integrity of the structure• LEED certification or extensive use of green building technologies in preservation projects• Recognition of significant leaders in the field or individuals/organizations that promote excellence in preservation practice
Completed nomination forms must be received by May 15, 2019. Any project within the Rock Hill School District area which has been substantially completed in the previous year, or an organization or individual who has been a leader in the field, may qualify for the award. All nominated structures must be at least 50 years old. Individuals or organizations may nominate their own project for this award.
Nomination materials must include a completed nomination form as well as photographs of the completed project. You may also include any supporting documents or materials that assist in describing the project (i.e. newspaper articles, letters of support, etc.). Although not a requirement, submission of BEFORE & AFTER photos will be of assistance to the Committee (for remodels or additions, or even for examples of restoration or excellent maintenance).
All nominations will be considered by the awards program committee. The panel will measure the quality, innovation, and/or impact of the project as well as special consideration given to those projects that meet standards of preservation practice.
