Students need to have an instrument by Thursday, September 12 if possible. If you need more time, please contact Mr. Johnston at
ajohnston443@spsmail.org to let him know how much more time is needed.
Students need four things:
1. Instrument
2. Accessory: a shoulder bar for violins and violas; or an endpin stopper for cellos and basses
3. A folding music stand
4. The orchestra book: Essential Elements Book 1
There are two performances scheduled: Tuesday, March 10 at High Street Baptist Church 900 N. Eastgate, 65802
and Wednesday, May 6 at Parkview High School in the main gymnasium. Both of these start at 7:00 pm, and students should meet Mr. Johnston at 6:15 for each of these as well.
After enrollment, a student may drop fifth grade orchestra with a note from the parent until October 11, which is the end of the first quarter. After the first quarter, the student must stay in fifth grade orchestra until the end of the year.
