WACADA Annual Conference - Submit a Proposal
Thriving Together: Cultivating Advisor Wellness for Student Success
September 26-27, 2024 at Fox Valley Technical College (Appleton, WI)

Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for the 2024 WACADA Annual Conference! All academic advising topics are eligible for concurrent sessions, panel presentations, or hot topic discussions. Advising professionals of all experience levels are encouraged to submit a proposal. Please submit your proposal by June 15, 2024. Proposal selections will be finalized by July 15, 2024.

Want some suggestions? Here are some presentation topics that WACADA members have expressed interest in seeing at future conferences (based on responses in past conference evaluations).

Presenters must register for a 2024-25 WACADA membership, as well as register for the Annual Conference. Conference and membership registration opens on July 1, 2024.

Format Options include:
  • Topical Presentation - This format includes a more formal presentation of facts/insights on a current topic in advising, ideally with activities that encourage participation. This can be based on literature research, sharing best practices, or your own research (experimental or theoretical). Presentation should be 30-35 minutes with 10-15 minutes for questions.
  • Panel Discussion - Discussion among a group of specialists and/or experts in a given area, led by a facilitator in front of an audience.
  • Roundtable Discussion - Peer-to-peer discussion centered on one or more hot topics, or areas of interest. This format is more informal and typically allows for more interaction among participants.
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
  • Relevance to current topics in academic advising
  • Creativity of approach
  • Interest of membership (as expressed in past conference evaluations)
  • Adaptability of other institutions
  • Grounding in research where applicable

The WACADA Conference Committee is still confirming conference details and session recording capabilities. Should sessions be recorded (to be shared with WACADA members), please confirm your approval to have your session recorded and shared with membership.
