We're supporters of the union members who are on strike from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for 1+ year.  We are collecting recipes to make a cookbook of desserts, with recipes shared by union members and supporters around Pittsburgh and beyond. By sharing this recipe, you're giving permission for volunteers to include your recipe in an upcoming cookbook. All sales will be donated to the P-G workers' strike fund
  • We're collecting dessert recipes served during any season of the year.
  • You're welcome to submit more than one recipe, but please fill the form out for each recipe individually.
  • Please share this link with friends and union supporters who live near and far from Pittsburgh.
Are there certain kinds of recipes we should submit?
The union supporter dessert cookbook is seeking all kinds of desserts. If it’s a dessert, whether it’s baked or sweet, let’s get it in the cookbook.  Will your recipe fit?  Yes, it will!

Do the recipes need to be original?
Recipes can be original to you or a family member, or they can be from a source that you’ve adapted. You can attribute a cookbook, recipe site, or other published source in the space below.

What kinds of recipes do you have so far?
These are some of the many recipes we've received so far:  apple cake, pear tart, poppyseed cake, lemon dream cookies, carmelitas, rum balls, puddings, sugar cookies, pumpkin cake, pound cake, oatmeal pie, strawberry cornbread, brownies, nut roll, and many more.  It’s okay if we have a few recipes for similar items, so don’t hold back.

We're making the dough rise in solidarity with CWA, NewsGuild-CWA, and Teamsters union members who are on strike from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. They're fighting for the dignity of their work, their families, and the Pittsburgh community they strive to serve. They are writing for Pittsburgh Union Progress, the news publication produced by striking workers.   You may donate to their strike fund here.
