Chebucto Peninsula Moose Meeting -  Registration
Join Nature Nova Scotia for an educational community event, the Chebucto Peninsula Moose Meeting. Nestled in the picturesque French Village, NS, this event is a celebration of nature and a platform to raise awareness about the vital importance of moose conservation.

Location: 71 St Paul's Lane, French Village, NS

Hike length: Approximately 2.5K Total


Event Details:

We will meet at the St Paul's Anglican Church's property at 11am and will head out on a hike through the property. We will cover the details of the land as well as the churches plan for preservation. Our guide will provide captivating insights on the Mainland moose, shedding light on their behavior, habitat, and significance within the ecosystem. learning how to identify moose tracks, pellets, and other signs.

Be a part of something bigger by contributing to the accurate tracking of moose populations. Our event will equip you with the knowledge to document your findings effectively and report them to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Your efforts will directly impact the ongoing conservation and preservation efforts in the region. We will also be offering an opportunity to fill out our Mainland Moose Research Project survey


Difficulty Level: 

Moderate difficulty hike, uneven terrain muddy, tree roots fallen logs. This will be a somewhat challenging hike on rocky, uphill terrain with rocky surfaces, exposed roots, Stepping over logs, and muddy sections, not for beginners. We highly recommend waterproof hiking shoes,  and water-resistant clothing. We reserve the right to turn you away if you do not have the proper gear.

Safety Considerations: Please be prepared for all kinds of weather, slippery rocks/uneven terrain, the potential for off-leash dogs and other hikers, and other reasonable wilderness risks.

If the weather is bad the event will be cancelled, you will be notified by email. Please check to make sure the event is going ahead the day of.

EVENT WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT

I, am aware of and understand the risks, hazards and dangers inherent in guided hikes such as, but not limited to, the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss, resulting from participation in guided hikes, and/or travel to and from the location of a hike. Notwithstanding the risks involved, I request NatureNS to permit me to participate in this hike, and I hereby assume all risks resulting from engaging in such activity, including travel to and from the location of the field trip.

I hereby acknowledge that I have read this Agreement and understand that it is a full and final release and waiver of any claims for damages or injuries sustained as a result of our participation in this field trip, and/or travel to and from the location of the field trip, and that I am signing this Agreement voluntarily, knowing that, in doing so, I am relieving and forever discharging NatureNS and, their agents, servants, directors, officers, successors, and assigns of all liability for any losses or damages which I may sustain.
