The position is an exciting opportunity to engage and work with a variety of climbing populations from incoming freshmen and current students at WVU, to introducing young adventurers to the climbing world at the wall. Site Managers will work in an engaging position with exciting opportunities for challenging work, alongside other outdoor professionals at Adventure WV. Site managers will develop/practice a wide range of skills, including technical climbing systems, leadership, collaboration, and education. More specifically, Climbing Site Managers will manage all aspects of the First-Year Trips climbing activities at Coopers Rock State Forest, Climbing Wall operations on-campus during open hours, Climbing Wall special events, route setting, and other potential climbing recreation trips and events.
Candidates qualifications include: Status as a current WVU student, the ability to work well in a group of co-instructors and interact professionally with a variety of client groups, sound judgment and decision-making skills, an awareness for risk management in an outdoor environment, and an ability to work varied hours outside of a normal workday (including evenings, weekends, and holidays). Preferred qualifications include: A background in climbing both indoor and outdoor, and a belay certification at the WVU Climbing Wall. As the Climbing Site Manager position is part-time/varied-hours work, it is possible to work this position and another position with Adventure WV during the 2019 Summer Season (for example, it is possible to be both a First-Year Trips Leader and a Climbing Site Manager for the 2019 Summer Season).
Pay: Hourly base rate pay of $9.50/hour for a first-year Site Manager, with an increase commensurate to experience and trainings in addition to the base rate hourly pay.
