Thank you for your interest in the Missouri AHEC Scholars Program. This 2-year interprofessional program is an advanced learning opportunity for selected health professions students with a strong interest in providing healthcare in rural or urban medically underserved communities across Missouri. The AHEC Scholars Program allows students from a variety of health professions disciplines to network while learning supplemental skills and information in core topic areas above and beyond their normal academic curriculum.
This 2-year program requires a minimum of 40 hours of didactic activities and 40 hours of experiential activities each year. Activities will be team-based and focused on the following core topics: Interprofessional Education; Behavioral Health Integration; Social Determinants of Health; Cultural Competency; Practice Transformation; Current and Emerging Health Issues; Connecting Communities and Supporting Health Professionals; and Virtual Learning and Telehealth.
Selection for the AHEC Scholars Program is competitive and begins with a formal online application process. Students who are selected to participate must be enrolled in an accredited health professions program with a minimum of two years remaining before graduation, must complete the required 40 hours of didactic and 40 hours of experiential activities during each of the two years of the program, and must complete a follow-up evaluation 1 year after program completion.
