Poet Laureate Mentee Application
Edmonton's 8th Poet Laureate, Nisha Patel, will be mentoring four poets during her two year term. Each mentorship will take place over a 5 month period, and will focus on developing clear strategies and writing practices for the mentee, and include work towards a goal. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in applying to be mentored.
Mentorship will include:
1 on 1 meetings and workshops
Attendance at poetry events
Conversations on art and business
Prompted writing and feedback
Mentees are expected to be responsive to feedback, open to attending and meeting, and setting achievable goals. After a five month period, mentees will hope to have learned about the poetry and arts scene in Edmonton and have developed a sustainable writing practice focused on growth.
Please fill out the form below by August 2nd, 2019 at 11:59 PM. Applicants may be asked to come in for an initial meeting after that time. Mentorship will run from August 2019 to mid-January 2020.
Please note that this position is unpaid, and for now will be focusing on an in-person mentorship. In future sessions, this may be open to long-distance or remote mentorship.
