Girls Rock RI's First Annual BATTLE OF THE PATRIARCHY!
What is a Battle of the Patriarchy you ask? It's basically a Battle of the Bands Fundraiser wherein women, trans and gender expansive adults are placed into bands (a great chance to work with new people!) and given a fundraising goal. The bands write original music while fundraising online to support their local rock camp, and at the end of 12 -14 weeks, the bands finally play a huge fundraiser show!

Here’s how it works: SIGN UP! No experience on your instrument is necessary, but a bit is helpful! We’ll randomly place you into bands with folks you've (ideally) never played with before.** Registration costs $10.00. To complete your registration payment, please follow the paypal link here:

The pre-gathering and announcing of band assignments will be held on June 29th 2019 from 3–5pm! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! This gathering is mandatory in order to participate! Location TBA.

The bands have 14 weeks to come up with a short set, composed of two - three songs, at least one of which must be an original. GRR! will lend gear to folks that don't have the instruments that they need, along with some practice space***!

The ~final fundraiser show spectacular~ is on Saturday, October 19th!!!

We invite individuals who self-identify as women, trans, or non-binary to sign up.* We welcome individuals of any gender identity to participate in more indirect ways. (i.e. band promoter, door person, event volunteer, sponsor liaison, stage team, etc.)

*Folks must be 18 years or older (and out of high school!) to sign up for this event.

***bands will be able to use the Girls Rock! RI space up to 2x/month, with consideration for scheduling
