Men of Oakes! 2025-26: Volunteer A Day
What is Men of Oakes:
"Oakestown Dads (Grandpas, Uncles, & Older Brothers) of 5th and 6th Graders We Need You!" We want to show our community, our school, our families, and our students how important that statement is to us. We are creating opportunities for volunteerism to grow at Oakestown. Dads and adult male guardians/grandparents/uncles/older brothers this is a great opportunity to volunteer a day at Oakes this year. Your presence at school will help with our students growing and transitioning to middle school. Our Goal is to show our students and our community our support by volunteering a day at Oakestown
Rationale:
Connect with the daily life of our students at Oakestown
We know that when parents invest their time at school, students follow suit. Our male demographic currently has a low percentage of volunteering —let's change that and show our kids the power of community support! The more we are present at school, the stronger our community will be around our students.
What would the MEN of Oakes do while volunteering:
Be a Visible Presence- Security support, hallway presence, AM Drop Off and PM Pick Up times
Get Hands-on- Support PE, Art, STEAM, Music, Library- Extra hands with activities, support your child’s POD or organize materials outside of the classroom. (Or stick with the hallways!)
Lunch & Recess Support: Talk with students, referee sports, and play at recess. Your lunch is on us!
Example Day
7:10-8am Help with morning drop off, deliver late items dropped off for students, etc.,
8:00-10:30am Security support- walk the hallways, check doors, be present-join Enrichment Classes, support in PODs, help the building in some way
10:55-12:50pm Lunch & Recess Support (Your lunch is on us!)—talk with students, referee sports, and play at recess.
12:50-2:15pm Security support- walk the hallways, check doors, be present- join Enrichment Classes, support in POD, help the building in some way
2:15-2:45pm Help with dismissal 450 students getting to buses and 400 walking or car
Volunteer for a FULL Day! Or we know a full day is a big commitment so you could choose flexible options like AM Only (7:10-11am), Lunch/Recess Only (10:45-12:45pm), or PM Only (12:45-2:45pm). We will work with you!
