2020 Lenapehoking IX Vigil Honor Nomination Form
Each year, the Lodge strives to recognize its most worthy member with the Vigil Honor. Selections are made with great care, and only after thorough consideration of the possible candidates. This nomination form has been designed to make this process clearer and easier. Please carefully complete this form with the information that best describes the nominee as a Vigil Honor candidate.
Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor. It is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon a brother. The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their Lodge, the Order of the Arrow, their Scout Camp, or Scouting in general. Membership in the Vigil Honor cannot be won by the conscious endeavor of an individual. It comes as recognition of unselfish leadership in service. At no time should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered reason enough for a Vigil Honor Nomination.
Prerequisites for the Vigil Honor
1). Be a registered dues paying member of Lenapehoking Lodge IX and the Northern New Jersey Council.
2). Must be a Brotherhood member for at least two years at the time of the nomination deadline.
All Arrowmen eligible for the Vigil Honor will be reviewed and each will be considered regardless of a written nomination on file. However, if you feel an Arrowman is worthy of additional consideration, the Honors Committee strongly encourages you to complete this form to the best of your ability. It is not necessary to include dates of events, awards, etc.
Please include only the information that you know about the individual you are nominating; there is no minimum or maximum length requirement for nominations. Any member of the Lodge may nominate any eligible Arrowman; you may nominate more than one eligible Arrowman.
The submission of the completed form do not in any way guarantee that the nominee will be selected. Selections and final approval of all candidates rest with the Lodge Vigil Selection Committee and the National Order of the Arrow Committee. To avoid any possible disappointment, do not inform the nominee in any way of your submission on his or her behalf.
Any Arrowmen who were nominated in previous years must be re-nominated to be considered this year. Only the current year’s nomination form will be considered. No weight is given to multiple submissions for the same candidate.
