What is "Stories from the ALS Community"?
"Stories from the ALS Community" is a brief theatrical and reflective performance regarding the challenges and realities of ALS. It consists of a small collection of monologues based on interviews conducted with individuals diagnosed with ALS. There are three monologues in total, and their content ranges from accepting death to the joys of life. Guest experts will speak on topics related to ALS (symptoms, treatment, research, et cetera) after the monologues are presented. There is no admissions cost for the performance; instead, it is asked that audience members donate what they can to relevant associations.
General Information
There is only one showing of this performance being planned. It will take place on Saturday April 23rd, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM. It will be about an hour in length. There will be no intermission. The performance is going to be put on in Room 4010 of the Vilas Communication Hall building on the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus (Vilas Hall, 821 University Ave, Madison, WI 53706). To receive directions to this room, enter the Vilas Communication Hall building from the ramp at the corner of University Avenue and North Park Street; attendants will guide you from there. Parking lots #7 and #20 on the campus are inexpensive options that should be available (space-permitting). Note: certain large-scale events are going on on the Madison campus during the time and date of this performance, so it is advantageous to plan time for traffic and parking. If you are driving a vehicle with handicapped plates and parking is full at either parking lot #7 or #20, try ringing the "help" button on the ticket dispensers; they will sometimes allow you to enter regardless of the stated capacity. For more information on the building itself and parking options, visit the following URL: https://theatre.wisc.edu/productions-and-tickets/location-and-parking/. There is no admissions cost. Audience size is limited. This form is recording email addresses that submit a response in the case of event changes; that way, the proper information can get to the proper people at the proper time.
COVID-19 Information
This performance will take place in a room that is small and not well ventilated, so if one is concerned about the COVID-19 risk, it might be safer to forgo this event. In light of the likely presence of those who are immunocompromised, we are asking that all audience members wear masks to minimize the likelihood of COVID-19 spread; we are not strictly mandating this, however. If you are feeling sick or have had exposure to COVID-19 within a few days of the performance, please abstain from attending in order to protect others. Performers and crew will be tested for COVID-19 before the performance.
