My name is Kandace Lytle, and I am the current College & Career Counselor here at STEM. I would like to host a College Preparation Alumni Panel for our underclassmen and their parents.
I intend to host the panel in May when most colleges release and STEM is still in session. We have many STEM alumni from various institutions and majors willing to return to share their experience and knowledge with current STEM families!
The purpose of this survey is to gather how many STEM families would be interested in participating and potential questions families would like the panelists to answer.
On this panel, alumni will be asked questions about their college experience and give advice to current STEM students searching for colleges. Below are some example questions:
- What should freshman/sophomore/juniors do to prepare for college?
- What do you wish you had known as a senior about to leave for college?
- Why did you choose your university?
- How big are your classes? Are they lecture-based or discussion-based?
- What organizations are you involved in on your campus?
- What do you do when you are not in class?
- What is it like to live in a dorm?
- What do I need to bring with me to college?
- How did you prepare for the SAT/ACT?
- What is your favorite thing about college?
- What is the difference between STEM and college?
