6/20 Phillip Glass Ensemble Concert


We will be going to the Phillip Glass Ensemble, in honor of his 75th Birthday. The ensemble will perform a retrospective of his works, along with a youth ensemble that starts the program off at 7pm. See below for all the details!

PS You can just show up, but please RSVP so we have a sense of how many people are coming - bring dinner and drinks and i will bring some snacks!

EVENT DATE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20

TIME: 6:30 PM - ? ( the show starts at 7pm) Arrive at 6:30 so you can help me save good seats! I suspect it will go till 9pm - the event starts with a youth ensemble playing Phillip Glass's Glassworks, then followed by the main ensemble group - see below for more details.

COST: Free!

Location: ON THE LAWN INSIDE OF Rockefeller Park, Battery Park City at the corner of River Terrace and Warren Street

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

A blanket or seat to sit on the lawn, dinner if you want to eat with us. I will have some light snacks.


RSVP DEADLINE - MONDAY, JUNE 18. You can just show up without RSVP'ing, but please RSVP so i can get a sense of our numbers for the snacks.

Come celebrate Philip Glass’ 75th birthday at the 2012 River To River Festival at the Philip Glass Ensemble's only concert that is free to the public this year. Join the Philip Glass Ensemble as they perform a retrospective program of the legendary composer’s music in the beautiful setting of Rockefeller Park. As a special component to the evening, youth ensemble Face the Music opens the event with Philip Glass’ Glassworks. The talented teens of Face the Music (the oldest of whom was born in 1994) digs in to the lush harmonies and rich textures of this modern-day classic with great enthusiasm. This event promises to be a memorable and unforgettable musical spectacular.

Face the Music's performance wil be 40 minutes long and that Philip Glass Ensemble follows.

Presented by River To River Festival and Battery Park City Authority.
