The Southeast Iowa STEM Hub is partnering with Collins Aerospace to organize Community STEM Day. This event is intended to increase interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields and careers among Iowa students by partnering with youth, parents, educators, employers, non-profit organizations, policy leaders, and others.
Organized like a street fair, Community STEM Day will feature STEM businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations engaging students in hands-on activities, demonstrations, and conversations about STEM.
Community STEM Day will be held on the Collins Aerospace campus in Cedar Rapids (parking lot outside Building 112). There will be a large tent to house the exhibitors. Additionally, Collins Aerospace will be offering lab tours and mini STEM workshops. Plus, we'll have food trucks on site to complete the street-fair vibe!
The event is open to the public, and attendees will include PK-12 students, their families, and other community members from the Cedar Rapids area. Tentatively, we're expecting about 3,000 individuals to attend.
