Thank you for showing interest in becoming a member of next year’s yearbook staff. Yearbook offers you the chance to participate in capturing and preserving your memories at Amity Regional High School. Each year, our yearbook staff works together to produce—from cover to cover—a new edition of Embers that everyone in the school can enjoy for years to come.
We are looking for creative, dependable, and highly motivated students who pay attention to detail, work well with others, plan ahead, and follow through. There are about twenty staff members who cover the sections devoted to Seniors, Underclassmen & Faculty, Sports, and Student Life. These staff members must know the school, plan carefully, cover their section’s activities, take photographs, write copy, create layouts, and check proofs.
All yearbook staff members must have time and the willingness to produce the best yearbook possible that represents the entire school. They must be dedicated to the job, learn the skills needed to produce the book, and maintain an aggressive work ethic to meet deadlines. While they can certainly be involved in other activities, such as sports, student government, clubs, etc., the yearbook does require a lot of time and it should be their primary extra-curricular activity. Candidates for these positions must be serious and fully appreciate the responsibility of editorship. It is hard work, but very rewarding!
To be a member of the yearbook staff, you must first apply. If you are a viable candidate, you will have an interview for which you should be prepared to comment on the past three years' yearbooks (the library has a collection for your review), explain your philosophy about yearbook, present some ideas, and discuss your qualifications. The yearbook editorial staff will be announced after all applications have been reviewed and interviews are completed.
We look forward to receiving your application and appreciate your interest in the yearbook!
