New practice startup funds are awarded upon successful graduation from the Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program. These post-graduation funds are designed to provide much needed cash resources to new graduates to help fund the establishment of startup AOM practices. The awarding of these post graduation funds is contingent upon the graduate returning to his/her home state to establish a practice. Because practice startup funds will be awarded following the completion of training, we anticipate that the IRS will consider these grants to be taxable income that will not qualify as deductible educational expenses.
