You have been invited to participate in a research study, conducted by a group of university
library personnel, to learn more about how well the new university libraries; website meets the
needs of users. In order to participate in our study, please read and complete the following
consent form.
Project Description
In each session, we will observe and record your activities as you use the new university
libraries’ website. At times, we may take notes on your activities, or may ask you to elaborate on
or clarify your actions.
Video Recording and Usage
During the research study, we will be recording your computer screen, mouse movements and
voice. We will be using these recordings internally to improve the design of the website and may
write an article on our findings. These video clips will not be posted on the Internet and your
participation in this session will be anonymous. We will not provide any details with the use of
the information and images resulting from the study which would allow any third party to
identify you.
Sensitive Information
If you enter private information (account numbers or balances, personally identifiable data, etc.)
during this study, it will be recorded by the screen sharing capture. However, this information
will be manually blurred out from the recording immediately following the interview, and will
not be stored after that in any other way.
Voluntary Participation
Your participation in this study is voluntary. Refusal to participate will not negatively impact
you and you may stop participation at any time without consequences.
