Palabras del Pueblo Summer 2026
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS APPLICATION AND THE QUESTIONS CAREFULLY.
DEADLINE to apply:  May 20th

Thank you for your interest in the Palabras del Pueblo Workshop!
The workshop happens:
June 6-7 &13-14
9am to 1pm Pacific Time.

We seek to create a space for Xicano/a/x writers to connect, learn, and write towards their community rather than outsiders/gatekeepers.  Our goal is to be low-cost and accessible to our community, which gets sidelined in other spaces.

This is not a Hispanic or Latino Workshop.

Read our FAQ on our website: https://palabrasdelpueblo.org/

On notification of acceptance, payment ($100) must be made within a week (7days). Sponsorships are available.

Be sure to include a second choice as classes fill up. You may only be offered your second choice.
While this workshop is open to beginning writers, applicants do get rejected. Effort into the application improves your chances.

You can only take ONE CLASS. They happen at the same time. There is no switching, or mix and matching of classes.
For more info on the classes, please see our website https://palabrasdelpueblo.org/
or our Instagram: @palabrasdelpuebloworkshop or @scottrussellduncanfernandez

The class will be over two long weekend sessions:
June 6-7, and 13-14, mornings 9am to 1pm Pacific Standard Time online via Zoom.
The week in-between is intended to give an opportunity to reflect and edit as well as provide some flexibility for work schedules. Again, one workshop class happens over two weekends.

We also have presentations the first hour to all participants, this session from:
