Food For Tomorrow in the 50th Longfellow Parade
Thanks for volunteering to walk with our team as we celebrate our 10th year collecting donations at this event! Typically, we collect approximately 1500 lbs of food items and personal care products for the Howard County Food Bank but, to maximize safety and limit contact between all involved, this year will be different. Instead, we'll collect spare change and small bills in buckets from the spectators. The donation will be delivered to the food bank on Monday, July 6.
If you walk with us, please bring and wear a mask throughout the duration of the parade. We will provide collection buckets, latex gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and spray, and back-up masks if you forget yours. We will also provide light snacks and cold water. Please wear a red shirt and comfortable walking shoes. The length of the parade is about 1.5 miles.
When: Saturday, July 4. Gather at 9:30am, parade begins at 10am and lasts until 11am. Park on the street near the elementary school.
Where: Longfellow Elementary School parking lot, 5470 Hesperus Dr, Columbia, MD 21044 (start and end point)
