Research exists that suggest high school students are not getting enough sleep based on their inherent biological clock (circadian rhythm). The School Site Governance Team is considering taking a vote on whether to change the school starting time for next year, ranging from an 8:00 or 8:30 am start. As most know, our school has been starting at 7:24 am. Please know there are pros and cons to either keeping the start time the same or changing to a later start time. A link is posted on our school website to view a number of documents covering this topic.
While the SSGT does not know if the district’s transportation department can accommodate a school time change, they desire to move forward at this point to find out whether the school stakeholders are in favor or not of a change in starting time. We have scheduled a stakeholder meeting to discuss the proposed change on the night of Wednesday, December 13th, at 6 pm in the Media Center. All are encouraged to attend.
Please share your feedback regarding a change to a new starting time for the school below. Deadline for submission is January 5, 2018.
Please provide your email address below, which will be used for tallying purposes only. Only one submission per individual will be accepted. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion.
