The award is named after Richard K. Wager, retired publisher of the Journal, who, during his more than 40-year career, championed numerous diversity initiatives among employees and in the community. Nominations can be made on behalf of people, organizations, business, nonprofits, and/or government entities. The spirit of the award is to advance the cause of equality among people.
Nominations should be no more than 500 words and can be accompanied by letters of testimonials from those benefiting from the individual or organization. The winner will be selected by a panel of community members and members of the Journal staff. The recipient will be honored at the Catharine Street Community Center's annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in January. Nominations must be sent by Dec. 7. Self-nominations are welcome.
