Robert Gogan will show us and explain how Harvard recycling operations recovered over 6,259 tons of recyclables and compostables in fiscal year 2016 for a recovery rate of 52%. He has managed the operations for over 25 years and maintained close working relationships with all 9 faculty communities despite the extremely decentralized setup with 800 purchasing centers, over 400 buildings, 4,500 officers with purchasing authority.

We hope to find out how Robert plans to meet his goal to reduce the per capita trash by 50% from 2006 levels by 2020 by partnering with vendors, manufacturers, farmers and members of the University community.
