people to the ship. Virtual Assemblies can accommodate up to 500 people. Schmidt Ocean Institute is only able to host one connection per day, two-three days per week during an expedition.
If your group is smaller than 100 people, please register for an already scheduled virtual assembly (available on our website) or request a small group connection.
We try our best to fulfill every qualified request. That said, we may not be able to accommodate all requests depending on the demand per expedition or time differences between your location and the ship. As a result, we suggest ranking your choice of expedition to connect with.
We recommend participants be over the age of 10.
Connections can during transits between ports when there is no science team onboard. Transit connections are focused on our crew and maritime careers.
Technical Requirements • A laptop with video connection and projector
• Good sound system/speaker capabilities
• Decent internet bandwidth, and the ability to connect via Zoom. For a better Zoom experience, we recommend speeds above 20Mbps.
