High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development: A Platform for Partnerships
The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/hlpf) has been given a central role in follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs it contains at the global level. The HLPF session in 2016 will be a crucial milestone for the forum, being the first session since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda.

As mandated by the General Assembly resolution 67/290 (paragraph 8c), and as affirmed by the 2030 Agenda (paragraph 84), the forum will, starting in 2016, conduct regular State-led reviews on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

These reviews will be “voluntary, while encouraging reporting, and include developed and developing countries as well as relevant United Nations entities and other stakeholders, including civil society and the private sector. They shall (...) provide a platform for partnerships, including through the participation of major groups and other relevant stakeholders”.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development also calls on major groups and other relevant stakeholders to report on their contribution to the implementation of the Agenda (2030 Agenda, paragraph 89).

Information from registered multi-stakeholder partnerships and voluntary commitments from the Partnerships for SDGs website may be used to inform HLPF about the progress and impact these initiatives have on their support to the achievement of the sustainable development goals. In addition, there may be more in depth reporting by selected partnerships on their contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
