We are preparing for our 2025-2026 school year, and we need your help to fill our PTO volunteer Committee Chair positions.

Our Chair positions are listed below with a brief description. Please note in order to hold a position in our PTO, you must be a paid member of the PTO for that school year. More information will be sent out at a later date with instructions on how to become a PTO member for our new school year.

Black Elementary PTO

Below is a list of open positions for the next school year. Please mark all that interest you.

Advertising & Marketing Chair: Creates & updates images for the electronic marquee as needed throughout the year.

Marquee Chair: Updates the letters on the marquee sign as needed throughout the year.

Vision and Hearing Chair: Works with the school nurse to get the number of volunteers requested. Creates a sign up genius to organize and gather volunteers. Is the contact for the day of event for questions.

Clinic Chair: Works with the school nurse to see what is needed for the clinic each month. Creates sign up genius for volunteers or supplies requested to be donated.

Field Day Chair: Contacts the community relations rep at HEB to organize their donation of popsicles & waters. (Board member has this info.) Picks up the HEB donations & brings it to the school. Contacts the cafeteria manager to reserve freezer space. Contacts the company to reserve an obstacle course inflatable for event. (Will be paid for via the PTO credit card.) Creates a sign up genius to organize & gather volunteers for the day. Is the contact the day of for questions & direction.

Hospitality Chair: Utilizes their budget, along with parent donations, to prepare treats and luncheons for the Black Elementary staff throughout the year. The first event for these chairs is typically 2 weeks before the first day of school with a back to school luncheon for all the staff. Recommended to be a co-chair position.

Junior Achievement Chair: Coordinate volunteers to teach short economic lessons to students, as well as the Biztown fieldtrip for 5th grade. Announce training dates to volunteers. Responsible for all JA materials.

Workroom Chair: Coordinate volunteers to assist in the Workroom cutting, stapling, collating, and other activities as needed.

Library Chair: Coordinate volunteers to assist students in the library with checking books in and out and assisting with processing and shelving books. Organize volunteers for the Book Fair.

Spirit Shop Chair: Source & purchase spirit shop items. (Paid via the PTO credit card) Organize & run the spirit shop booth where these items are sold to students on designated days during all grade lunches. Coordinate volunteers to help assist with running the booth.

Yearbook Chair: Coordinate volunteers to take and collect photos, assemble pages and work to create a yearbook. Work with the yearbook vendor coordinator to ensure all deadlines are met. Distribute orders to the students. Recommended to be a co-chair position.

Minor Fundraising Chair: Assist the Fundraising Board member with all fundraising needs. Coordinates with local businesses to set up approved minor fundraising activities. Arranges for check to be picked up or delivered to the school after spirit events.

Science Resource Center Chair: Provide all volunteers with information such training dates, field trip dates, etc. Act as liaison between Black Elementary and the Science Resource Center for all volunteers.

Nature Trails Chair– 3rd: Coordinate volunteers to assist Third Graders on the Nature Trails field trip. Advise volunteers on training dates provided by the District.

Nature Trails Chair – 5th: Coordinate volunteers to assist Fifth Graders on the Nature Trails field trip. Advise volunteers on the training dates provided by the District.

Destination Imagination: Coordinate volunteers and teams to participate in a project based learning experience.

Grade Liaison: Life Skills: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: Pre-K: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: Kindergarten: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: 1st: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: 2nd: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: 3rd: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Grade Liaison: 4th: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required..

Grade Liaison: 5th: Plans & organizes grade level activities such as parties & field trips with homeroom coordinators. First point of contact for all home room coordinators for your grade. If you would like to attend the field trip, an entry fee may be required.

Fifth Grade Day Chair: Plans the location, logistics, & activities for 5th grade day. Works within a set budget & plans fundraisers to raise money for the event. Coordinates with volunteers to ensure the event run smoothly. First contact for memory book, 5th grade t-shirts, & 5th grade paw prints chairs.

Memory Book Chair– 5th: Coordinate volunteers to take pictures at Fifth Grade events and assemble a Fifth Grade Memory Book to be given to students at the end of the year. Distribute of books to students.

Fifth Grade T-Shirts Chair: Coordinate the design, ordering and distribution of t-shirts to all fifth grade students.

Fifth Grade Paw Prints Chair: Coordinates paw print orders and application of the paw prints on the sidewalk.

Mom and Son Event Chair: Coordinates volunteers and oversees the planning of this event

Father Daughter Event Chair: Coordinates volunteers and oversees the planning of this event

Translation: Translate all written PTO communication from English to Spanish.

Picture Day Chair: Create a sign up genius to organize and gather volunteers. Is present on picture days to assist as point of contact. Incudes fall photos, class pictures, & spring photos.

Art Night Event: Organize the school Art Night Event. Buy supplies & organize volunteers to set up, run, & clean up after the event.

Game-O Night & Silent Auction: Organize the school Game-O Night event. Order supplies, prizes, & decorations, organize volunteers, & run the event. Organize the online silent auction that goes alongside the game-o event. Reach out to vendors for donations & work with administration for any staff experiences to add. Distribute prizes & work with the treasurer to transfer auction payments. This a co-chair position.
