Friends of Trees Crew Leaders are trained volunteer leads who are responsible for leading small groups of volunteers during our Saturday planting events.
Crew Leaders demonstrate how to plant trees properly while maintaining a fun, safe, and educational environment at our planting events. This is a dynamic and social leadership role best suited for people wanting to learn more about tree health, get their hands dirty outdoors, and gain or improve their group leadership skills. As a Crew Leader, you have the opportunity to make a positive impact on our natural environment and the communities we work with!
If this sounds like a great gig to you, please register below for Crew Leader Training.
GREEN SPACE CREW LEADERS work to restore natural areas and green spaces by planting native trees and shrubs to add both function and beauty to these areas. Plant stock is generally 1ft-3ft tall or in 1 gallon containers at the time of planting. Green Space events take place all over Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, and Marion counties and this is a great option if you do not live in Portland proper. Please note: many Green Space events they are not easily accessible by bike, bus, or Max light rail. Independent, personal transportation or carpooling is encouraged. Our Sat, Jan 27th training will be held at Brown's Ferry Park in Tualatin, OR, 9am-3pm
To be a Crew Leader, we ask that you attend a 6hr training (classroom and field training) and commit to three or more planting events Jan- April. You'll also get a free Tree Team t-shirt, awesome food, and lots of tree knowledge! Space is limited at each of these events, so register early to hold your spot!
Thanks for your interest in being a leader for community tree-planting -- we look forward to working with you!
