As a precaution against the spread of COVID, we are asking all participants to wear masks during the indoor portions of these events. You are not required to attend these sessions if you are seeking WV Can't Wait's support, but they provide a great opportunity to gain free training, information, and a sense of camaraderie with other potential candidates. During the campaign, will you commit to attend our March 5th launch and monthly Candidate Trainings/Strategy sessions (to get help with fundraising, field, communications, filing your paperwork, etc.)? *For the indoor portions of these events, we are asking participants to wear masks.
Yes, I plan to attend these sessions as my schedule allows.
No, I do not plan to attend these sessions.
In our experience, local candidates in West Virginia need to commit at least 5-10 hours per week toward Direct Voter Contact -- such as door-to-door canvassing, one-to-one meetings, hosting town halls and house parties, attending public events to meet folks, or calling voters by phone. (Note: direct voter contact does not include social media, public speeches, or ad buys.) How might you plan to do door-to-door canvassing, for example, 5-10 hours per week in the 10 weeks leading up to the election? (Don't worry, we'll help you make your field plan if you you're endorsed, accounting for the nature of the pandemic at the time!)
Campaigns can accomplish a lot more than just electing one person. They can be a vehicle for registering new voters, highlighting a particular issue, mobilizing volunteers to serve the community, or developing young leaders/interns, among other things. What are 1 or 2 goals you have for your race, in addition to winning?
