We invite you to add the name of a first-degree relative (i.e. parent, sibling, spouse/life partner, or child) or the name of a member of CAA to our weekly Misheberach / Prayer for Healing list.*
Once you've entered the name here, it will be read aloud each week until you ask us to remove the name. Please submit a separate form for each name. Please note that we are only able to read out names that have been added by Noon on Friday.
*If you are praying for someone other than a first-degree relative or a member of CAA, please join us in person for our service or add the name to the chat box on Zoom.
Please note that within Jewish tradition grief is a normal response to the loss of a loved one and is not viewed as a form of mental or spiritual illness. Thus, we do not say the prayer for healing for people in mourning. Rather, we recite the Misheberach prayer for persons who are recovering from an illness or medical procedure or who are suffering physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually, regardless if their suffering is acute or chronic.
While many are inclined to pray for the spiritual healing of mourners, the customary way of comforting mourners in the Jewish tradition is through visitation during shiva and personal expressions of condolence.
The names of mourners within the CAA community are also mentioned when we say the names of the deceased before we recite Kaddish.
