2022 NOMINATION FOR THE SCHOOL'S SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY (SSTS) NATIONAL EXECUTIVE

OVERVIEW

Since 1996, the Scientific Research Council (SRC) has enabled the formation of the Schools' Science & Technology Societies (SSTS) also called Science Clubs, in over 300 schools across the island. SSTS are at the primary and secondary levels.  Our vision is to create a National Executive for the SSTS which will stimulate the transformation of Science education/STEM at the national level.
The National Executive of the SSTS will be structured to provide an opportunity for students to express their views, network and debate scientific issues of concern This fora will spark understanding of Science & Technology while developing skills in scientific research, critical thinking, problem-solving, public speaking and communication.

The SSTS involves a yearly programme of activities including workshops, tours, regional meetings, inter-clubbing, CSEC/CAPE/PEP workshops, Essay/Debate/Performing Arts Competition, National Science & Technology Fair etc.,


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants:
1. Must be a registered Jamaican student at a Secondary School
2. Maintain at least a 60% academic average
3. Have an attendance record of at least 90%
4. Have a passion for the Sciences
