You can apply with this form anytime to use any remaining UW seats in instructor training by joining for Carpentries hosted online training. This training is the first step towards becoming a certified Carpentries instructor.
Carpentries Instructor Training aims to:
- Introduce you to evidence-based teaching practices
- Teach you how to create a positive environment for learners at your workshops
- Provide opportunities for you to practice and build your teaching skills
- Help you become integrated into the Carpentries community
- Prepare you to use these teaching skills in teaching Carpentries workshops or other courses
We will be reviewing the applications from this form and inviting applicants to register for the training on a rolling basis. We will prioritize applications from individuals with a history of involvement in the UW-Madison Carpentries Community. We also hope to fill as many training slots as we can, so even if you are not at UW-Madison or have not been involved with the Carpentries at UW-Madison in the past, we encourage you to apply as we will include you as space allows. If you are accepted, you will be sent an invite to register for one of the instructor trainings run throughout the year (
https://carpentries.github.io/instructor-training/training_calendar/index.html). As part of certification, you must attend the full workshop, not missing more than an hour or two.
If you are interested in attending and becoming a Carpentries instructor, please fill out the form below.
