Join us for the celebration of the start of Iskigamizigan Sugar Bush at this Spring Equinox gathering at Vielmetti-Peters Conservation Reserve in partnership with NMU's Center for Native American Studies, UP Land Conservancy, Sioux Tribe Culture & Language, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Promise Neighborhoods, and MSHS Title VI.

Participate in the start of sugar bush season and learn about the process of collecting maple sap and producing maple syrup and sugar.

Please note, parking is limited 

Please note that the event will take place in the parking area and along snowy nature trails in the Vielmetti-Peters Nature Reserve. The first part of the event will be on level ground and there will be an optional second part that will involve snowshoeing roughly 2 miles round trip.  We will have a limited amount of snowshoes available, so we ask participants to bring your own snowshoes if possible.
