WHO IS THIS FOR? This survey is for anyone who has taken actor training in Canada at any time. Questions in this survey are wide ranging from: choosing a program, the application process, mental and physical issues, and intimacy experiences during training and post graduation. Questions address representations of race, culture, gender, and sexuality. In addition, there are additional survey questions at the end specifically for artist educators to describe their experiences while teaching in Canadian actor training/theatre performance programs. If you did not undergo training in Canada, but work as an instructor in Canada, you may skip ahead to the Acting Instructor Questions.
The survey is comprehensive. This google platform allows you to complete the survey in sections, if you wish, by saving your answers for you. When you come back you can also change previous answers before clicking the SUBMIT button. The form also allows for the possibility to edit your responses after submitting. If you so choose, you can change or redact your answers at any time.
Please note: this survey is best accessed and completed on a computer screen, rather than that of a mobile device.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE:
* Experiences in Actor Training - Students: 30 mins* Experiences in Actor Training - Instructors: 15 mins
The questions pertain particularly to undergraduate/college actor training programs, however, we acknowledge that many of you will have undergone training at several institutions over varying periods of time. Where applicable, please indicate the timeframe for which your answers correspond. For example, in a multiple choice question such as "What years did you attend your acting program?," you have the option of selecting MULTIPLE time periods. If this applies to you, please do so. In responding to short/long answer questions, again, please be clear as to what timeframe your answer corresponds.
The data gathered in this survey will be published and used to build the key issues to discuss at our Got Your Back Acting Training Conference on May 27th & 28th, 2019 at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.
