Design & Technical Production for Womxn & NB Folks of African Descent
Lit From the Black! Harnesses and ignites the power of perception through the art of lighting, sound and visual design. The Lit From the Black! Fellow is mentored and trained by Stephanie Anne Johnson, an established and accomplished Black woman lighting designer based in the SF Bay Area.

The fellowship will focus on design and technical (with an emphasis on Lighting) skills for Online/Digital/Virtual productions. Through weekly sessions and a culminating showcase, Johnson and guest facilitators (varied disciplines/creative skill sets) will provide training, and engage Fellows as part of our online production, Bakanal de Afrique, an Afro Urban Festival, in November 2020.

We are passionate about expanding the opportunities for people of African descent in the Arts and Culture sector, and are committed to creating accessible, professional, and relevant skill sets. This fellowship is appropriate for people interested in the technical aspects of artistic & creative production with an emphasis on lighting design.
