Directors (non-officer positions) on the Board serve an initial two (2) year term. Would you be willing to serve for 2 years?
The Board of Directors meets once a month, usually the fourth Tuesday, for approximately 2 hours. Prior to each Board meeting, there are documents that need to be reviewed in preparation for the meeting. Do you feel you will be able to commit the necessary time and energy to serve on the Board and being able to attend the Board meetings?
Each Board member serves on a TAA committee or task force, which entails an additional meeting each month (inmost cases). Barring an emergency, do you feel you will be able to commit the time and energy to serve on both the Board and a committee or task force?
It is important that TAA Board members help support the Association’s legislative advocacy efforts, whether it is attending TAA’s annual “Meet the Candidates Reception,” or participating in the Apartment Association of North Carolina’s Annual Legislative Day, or willingness to speak at a public hearing, or helping to monitor a Triangle municipality for issues that may affect the apartment industry. Do you feel you will be able to be supportive in this manner?
TAA Board members are expected to help recruit committed volunteers to serve on TAA committees and task forces. Are you willing to be supportive in recruiting volunteers?
TAA Board members are expected to represent the Association in a professional and ethical manner at all times, as well as be an advocate for the Association within the membership and to the general public. Do you feel you will be able to represent the Association in this manner?
