  • Sergeant Mark A. Stead
    With over 20 years of experience in Lower Providence Township, Sgt. Stead leads the Community Policing/Traffic Safety Unit, focusing on public safety and youth engagement. A former School Resource Officer, he holds a bachelor's in criminal justice and is pursuing advanced studies in criminology and leadership. Sgt. Stead has been honored multiple times for his dedication to community service.
  • Nikki Urbanski
    As Social Services Liaison for the Lower Providence Township Police Department, Nikki connects individuals and families with vital resources, addressing mental health, addiction, homelessness, and more. With a master’s in clinical psychology and extensive experience in counseling and community outreach, Nikki works to enhance lives through compassionate care and education.
  • Michelle McDyre
    The Director of Prevention Education and Outreach at Mission Kids, Michelle has educated over 70,000 individuals on child abuse prevention. She develops impactful programs on topics such as human trafficking and trauma and has received multiple awards for her work in creating safer communities for children and families.

Presentation Topic:

This engaging workshop will equip caregivers with essential tools to safeguard
their children in today’s digital world. Participants will explore online safety risks, learn effective
monitoring strategies, and gain confidence in addressing sensitive topics like grooming and
sextortion. Through real-life examples, scenario analyses, and interactive demonstrations,
caregivers will identify red flags, practice communication skills, and create a personalized action
plan to enhance their child’s online safety.

Learning Objectives for Presentation:

  1.  Recognize common online safety risks, including grooming behaviors, oversharing of
    personal information, and unsafe interactions.

  2.  Analyze how different factors, such as social dynamics and identity, can increase a
    child’s vulnerability to online dangers.

  3.  Demonstrate knowledge of digital monitoring tools, privacy settings, and strategies for
    overseeing their child’s online activity.

  4.  Practice age-appropriate language and effective strategies to initiate conversations with
    children about online safety, grooming, and sextortion.

  5.  Create a personalized action plan with concrete steps to improve their household’s
    approach to online safety. Evaluate and respond to example scenarios of online interactions to distinguish between safe and unsafe behaviors.

  6. Utilize provided resources to stay informed about evolving online threats and protective
    measures.
