The Queensland Fencing Association is exploring the interest in a training camp and squads designed to develop fencers who would like to further develop their skills, possibly towards state level competition.
The 3 weapon camp is proposed to run 1-3 July, 2024, for approximately 4 hours per day at our Yeronga home. It will be run by a range of coaches depending on athlete interest and availability, but is likely to include a former Olympic fencer and level 3 coach, plus experienced level 1 fencing coaches.
The camp would cater for a range of skill levels from beginner to advanced. It is likely to be run along side a training camp for U15 and U17 fencers preparing for the upcoming national championships, plus it will include new or existing pentathletes looking to expand their skills.
In addition, we are looking to start planning for development squad in term 3. This squad will run from 2-4pm on Saturdays starting early term 3, and will cover all 3 weapons. Again, this squad is for fencers looking to develop their skills, possibly towards state competition level.
