If feasible (depending on the number of candidates who stand) the use of Ranked Choice Voting will be used for the positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Legal Counsel & the Single Transferable Vote (STV) will be used for DPCA voting Representatives. The use of approval voting may be used for positions where only one candidate has nominated (or if we only have 4 candidates for DPCA voting Representative).

A final decision on the voting system will be made after the close of nominations.

I understand that chair and vice chair positions must be of different genders and no more than 3 of 5 people elected can be from the same chapter (excluding DPCA Voting Representatives) and that the Nominations and Elections Committee may rule candidates to be ineligible to meet this requirement if appropriate. 

This may be done if for example all candidates for chair were of the same gender, then all for Vice Chair candidates who identify as being from that same gender will be struck from the ballot. On Election Day the outcome of the chairs position will determine the eligibility of candidates for Vice Chair. A similar process will be employed to ensure the necessary balance of representation between state chapters if appropriate.

Although not compulsory candidates are strongly encouraged to attend the AGM in person in Canberra on 1 April 2023 especially if you are running for Chair or Vice Chair. Do you intend to travel to Canberra for the AGM? *
