Birdie Bash Rules -
The Birdie-Bash is a family friendly fundraising event to benefit the youth served by Essex CHIPS. It will consist of 3 separate mini-tournaments, which will award trophies to tournament winners, but also "Wild Card" trophies for a variety of outstanding achievements by players and teams, in areas that may include Team Spirit, Costuming, Team Dance, Enthusiasm, and “who knows what else!”
Each team must have 3 players (all ages), and will play 7 games in accordance with the official International Birdie-Bash Rules, Regulations, & Requirements (IBRRR). The IBRRR does differ from traditional badminton rules, in ways that we believe make the game more fun for everyone.
For example, “where the birdie comes to rest on the floor” (not where the birdie hits the floor”) determines is it is “in-bounds” or “out of bounds”. That is definitely not in the regulation badminton handbook!
Court judges will be experts on the rules of play, so everyone can have a good time.
There is no fee to play in the Birdie-Bash! It is a fundraising event, however, to support the Teen/Tween Centers and the each team is encouraged (but not required) to collect sponsors & donations for their team.
Contact David at Essex CHIPS (
) if you would like some fundraising guidance.
Attached is a Donations Log that each player needs to use to record the donations given to them. Players are asked to submit their donations and Log to Essex CHIPS either prior to the event, or on the day of the event.
