Senator Krueger's Virtual Town Hall Series
Reforming The Criminal Justice Agenda
On Thursday, June 18th from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. join Senator Krueger for a *Special* Town Hall on Reforming the Criminal Justice Agenda, with NYS Senator Jamaal Bailey, key architect of New York State’s policing reform legislative agenda, NYS Senator Zellnor Myrie, criminal justice reform advocate, Insha Rahman, the Director of Strategy and New Initiatives at the Vera Institute of Justice, and Anthonine Pierre, Deputy Director of the Brooklyn Movement Center.
Insha Rahman will frame the discussion and provide an overview of the following: systemic problems associated with policing; justice budgets, system accountability; and future advocacy efforts. Senators Bailey and Myrie will provide an overview of New York State’s recent criminal justice reform legislative package, what they hope these new laws will accomplish, and additional advocacy required to continue to advance efforts to address racial injustice in our society.
