ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
This program will create a market booth designed to give beginning market vendors a low-stakes way to start selling at Astoria Sunday Market. We will bring in a rotation of farm and food vendors to this market booth space and provide resources and trainings to help participants grow into successful future Astoria Sunday Market vendors.
Key components of the Incubator Program:
- Vendors commit to occupying the market booth on rotation (4-5 Sundays during the season with the presence of the Astoria Sunday Market food systems manager)
- Lower fees than standard vendors ($20/market vs $35/market +$45 application fee and required market insurance)
- Vendors will be provided tent, tent weights and 2 6ft tables - $500 value
- Opportunity to engage with trainings, peer-learning sessions, and 1:1 technical assistance to grow your market business
We will be looking for 5 farm and/or value-added food businesses that are seeking an opportunity to sell at a farmer's market, but have come upon barriers making a market presence difficult. Acceptance of participants will be based upon product type, business and vending experience + proximity to market. There may be priority of these factors based on existing products and vendors at Astoria Sunday Market, vendor demand for program, and for applicants who identify as part of historically marginalized groups.
