What: A
free weekly virtual group meet up to help you get to know others in your area who share a similar experience. This will be a space to talk about the good, bad, hard, and happy moments of your pregnancy and early parenting journeys with others on the same path. You can ask questions, learn something new, get connected with resources, and find support and friendship from peers.
Why: Peer support is vital during pregnancy and parenting. In interviews with people who gave birth in Chicago, they said they needed this type of support in their communities to help improve pregnancy experiences and outcomes. We want to help meet that need.
Who: The organizers of this group are a collaborative of birth workers, community organizations, and parents: Fetal Infant Mortality Review Community Action Team, Gifts from Liam, SIDS of IL, Inc., & Peer Leader: Leola R
The goal: Provide a space for people who traditionally and historically have lacked access to support and resources in their communities, especially when it comes to pregnancy and parenting.
