Below are descriptions of the volunteer roles:
Seed Librarian: Volunteers are responsible for helping participants sign out seeds from the library as well as engage with participants by guiding them through our seed matching game.
Photographer: This volunteer will be responsible for taking photos during the event. This volunteer will have photography experience and a good camera.
Setup volunteer: Volunteers will help with setting up the day. This means lifting tables and chairs, helping vendors, and other tasks as needed. This is a great role for someone interested in helping out then experiencing the event after.
Parking lot attendant: These volunteers will guide vehicles to empty spots throughout the day. They will also help calm traffic in the parking lot by guiding cars out of the lot.
Kids activities: Volunteers at this station will help children through a number of different activities, coloring, planting seeds in a pot, making pots out of paper mache, etc. This is great for volunteers who enjoy working with kids. Please note that you will be required to complete a criminal record check prior to this shift (it is free).
Greeter: Volunteers will greet people as they enter the event. You will be the first interaction with attendees so you must be very engaging and excited!
Tear-down volunteer: Volunteers will be helping with tear-down. This means lifting and moving tables and chairs as well as other tasks as needed.
Seedy Saturday is a very engaging event that brings together local seed growers, farmers, community gardeners, and the local Richmond community for one day in anticipation for the spring gardening season. This is a great opportunity to meet your local community and get some rare seeds for your 2018 garden!
