Call It Out South Yorkshire LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Survey
SAYiT, has been funded, thanks to a bid to central government by the four South Yorkshire councils, to run a innovative 15 month project aimed at improving access to domestic abuse services for LGBT+ people (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and other minority sexuality and/or genders) across South Yorkshire.
Domestic abuse is defined as: “Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.”
If you are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse, or are concerned about a friend or family member, and want to access support please call:
Sheffield Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 808 2241
Rotherham Rise: 0330 202 0571
Barnsley Domestic Abuse Helpline: 03000 110 110
Doncaster Domestic Abuse Hub: 01302 737 080
Currently LGBT+ victims and survivors in South Yorkshire are not accessing services at the same rates as others in the population.
This survey aims to understand:

• What specific barriers exist for LGBT+ people in South Yorkshire experiencing domestic abuse that result in them not accessing support services
• For those who have accessed services what their experience was, positive or negative.

We are keen to engage LGBT+ minority voices who may be affected by a multiple disadvantage (e.g. people who are younger or older, BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and/or Refugee), carers, disabled, different faith groups etc.)

These personal stories, combined with findings from academic research, will guide what work needs to take place.
As a thank you for you time in completing this survey, participants will be entered in a prize draw for a £20 gift voucher.
(1 prize per area: Sheffield / Rotherham / Doncaster / Barnsley)
Information provided in this survey will be accessed by the SAYiT LGBT+ Domestic Abuse development workers to inform project work required to improve access to domestic abuse services for LGBT+ people.

Anonymised data will be included in project reports which will be publicly available and shared with other agencies. No identifying information will be shared.
