Application for Postdoctoral Scholar Professional Development Award
As part of Dartmouth’s ongoing commitment to support and improve the career and professional development of our postdoctoral scholars, the Dartmouth College Postdoctoral Association (DCPDA) has worked with Dean F. Jon Kull to identify and secure funding to support postdoctoral researchers for activities that directly enhance the individual’s professional growth.

Such activities include, but are not limited to:
- conference travel
- workshop attendance
- course enrollment

This commitment recognizes that the postdoctoral training period is a crucial time in the development of postdoctoral researchers as scholars. However, the nature of a postdoctoral position makes it difficult for most individuals to obtain funding for professional development that does not align directly with the goals of the lab/position in which the individual is hired and that increasingly there is a need and desire for postdocs to engage in professional development activities that augment their training and best position them for an increasingly competitive job market.

Details:
- One-time award of up to $750.00
- Approved applicants are expected to hold a discussion, lead a workshop, or write a brief forum article to summarize and share the knowledge they gained using these resources.
- Applicants must have spent at least 6 months at Dartmouth as a postdoctoral researcher at the time of application.
- Individuals may apply multiple times until they are granted an award.
- Award money will be reimbursed to the awardee after submission of receipts to the GRAD office, up to a maximum of $750. At the time of reimbursement, the awardee must be in Postdoctoral Associate status (employed by Dartmouth College).
- This award can not be applied to previously attended events, but is only valid for future opportunities

Eligibility Criteria:
- open to those who do not receive professional development or other additional (i.e. research) funds beyond their stipend upon appointment.
- open to those with a minimum of 1 calendar year tenure at Dartmouth
